Welcome to Friday Reads. Each Friday, I’ll review any books I’ve completed that week, as well as share what I’m reading right now. And by “Each Friday,” I mean “some Fridays.”

Forever a book behind, and doing myself no favors this week. Or am I?

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking – Susan Cain

I made it to 8%, which was basically the intro, and then didn’t pick it up for several days. I’m just not in the mood for something that feels like homework right now. The writing is fine and the subject matter is interesting and relevant, but I don’t feel like reading it, so back on the shelf it goes.

I also finished beta-reading 100 pages of a YA novel and 5 short stories for Coffin Bell, so that’s something.

Up next:

No idea.

It doesn’t feel like I’ve been reading a lot of great literature this year but for whatever reason, it’s been hard to read at all. So I’ll probably pick up something that doesn’t require a lot of brain power. One of those mass market crime thrillers or a YA novel, perhaps. A podcast I love (Says Who?) recently mentioned The Westing Game so I might read that again.
