It’s time for another category in the RWC 2017 Reading Challenge.
Category #4: A Book Written the Year You Were Born
Another category that’s rather simple. Variations could include a book written the year you were born versus published the year you were born, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find a suitable option. Genre is wide open.
For me, this category means a book from 1978. Yes, that means I’m 30 years old. No, I’m not good at math.
No images this week, but here’s a list of some books published in 1978 (links to go Wikipedia):
- John Irving – The World According to Garp
- Stephen King – The Stand
- Douglas Adams – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (radio play)
- Maya Angelou – And Still I Rise
- Louis Sachar – Sideways Stories from Wayside School
Of that selection, I’ve only read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Sideways Stories from Wayside School (many moons ago). I think for the challenge, it’s about time I read some poetry from Maya Angelou.
It was kind of interesting looking back at what big books were written in 1978. What books were you surprised to see listed from the year you were born?
If you have suggestions for books that fit in future categories, let me know. I’ll include your name (and a link, if you like) when I share those suggestions.
