Note: I quit linking titles to that big site that funds the rich dude and his space wars with other rich dudes. I’ve linked to Goodreads, but if you’re looking to support independent bookstores, my favorite local shop is Old Town Books (they ship!), and you can support my favorite podcast and a local shop of your choosing through their Bookshop.org link at KickBezosInTheBalls.org. And you can never go wrong with your local library!

Reading Goals:
1. Read 45 books – I finished 3 more books toward my Goodreads Challenge. I’m at 60% and 5 books ahead of schedule.
- Audiobooks: 11
- Kindle: 16
- Physical books: 0
2. Decrease my TBR –
- Jan 1: 64 physical / 23 digital
- Feb 1: 64/23
- Feb 28: 64/23
- Apr 2: 65/22 (birthday gift!)
- May 1: 65/22
- May 31: 65/21
- Jul 5: 65/21
3. Read 6 short story collections/anthologies:
- Jan: 0 (I forgot I set this goal)
- Feb: 1 short story collection
- Mar: 0
- Apr: 0
- May: 0 (I need to get going on this)
- Jun: 1 short story collection
4. Read 23 minutes per day – I’m on Day 657 of my reading streak.
I’m surprised I finished 3 books in June because it was another rough reading month. And can we talk about the number of books I abandoned (none are counted in my pages/hours)?
- Range—David Epstein: I listened to an hour of it and meh.
- Do You Mind If I Cancel—Gary Janetti: It was only 4 hours long, but I couldn’t listen past the first 17 minutes. The narration was terrible.
- Shadow Show: All-New Stories in Celebration of Ray Bradbury—various: I picked this collection up specifically to sample the work of one writer, couldn’t get into his story, and stopped reading.
- The Great Perhaps—Joe Meno: I may pick this up again. The story sounds great, but the copy I borrowed from the library smelled horrendous, and I couldn’t read it.
I have surgery next week, so I may want to read a lot. I may not want to read at all. I’m setting a goal of 3 books based on what I’ve already started and some quick reads I’ve borrowed.
