Somehow June is over and we’re halfway through 2022!

June goal:

Still, life is a LOT right now, so I’m only going to commit to 4 books and hopefully go over that.

What I read:

Note: I quit linking titles to that big site that funds the rich dude and his space wars with other rich dudes. I’ve linked to Goodreads, but if you’re looking to support independent bookstores, my favorite local shop is Old Town Books (they ship!), and you can support my favorite podcast and a local shop of your choosing through their Bookshop.org link at KickBezosInTheBalls.org. And you can never go wrong with your local library!

Pages Read/Hours Listened: (does not include abandoned books, edited manuscripts, etc.)

  • January – 2170, 20h 19m
  • February – 1442, 27h 45m
  • March – 2066, 20h 53m
  • April – 1294, 7h 6m
  • May – 1223, 7h 44m
  • June – 1591, 5h 59m

Reading Goals:

1. Read 36 books I finished 5 books toward my Goodreads Challenge. I’m 12 books ahead of my goal (81%).

2. Decrease my TBR –

  • Jan 1: 64 physical22 Kindle
  • Feb 1: 64/23
  • Feb 28: 64/23
  • Apr 1: 64/23
  • Apr 30: 64/22
  • Jun 1: 64/21
  • Jun 30: 64/20

3. Read 12 not-novels –

  • Jan: 1 development, 3 memoir, 1 nonfiction—and 4 audiobooks
  • Feb: 2 memoir/audiobook
  • Mar: 1 memoir + 2 other audiobooks
  • Apr: 1 nonfiction audiobook
  • May: 1 nonfiction, 1 memoir, both audiobooks
  • June: 2 nonfiction, 1 memoir, both audiobooks

4. Read 22 minutes per day – The streak is still alive. Counting my 2021 goal of reading 21 minutes per day, I’m on a 288-day streak.

May’s stress carried over into June. I managed to read 4 books, but one was already more than 40% complete when the month started and one was a really short audiobook. I let myself get stuck in a book I didn’t enjoy, but I was so excited about the description (Gone Girl meets The Haunting of Hill House) that I pushed on. I gave up at 17%, making it my second DNF of the year. I don’t have anything really started right now and July looks like another busy one, so I’m only committing to 3 books.
