Welcome to Friday Reads. Each Friday, I’ll review any books I’ve completed that week, as well as share what I’m reading right now.
I didn’t do much reading until the last few days, mostly because:
|The Keeper of Lost Things – Ruth Hogan
I said last week that I was abandoning it but then I had second thoughts. Bad idea. After another 4 days, I still hadn’t picked it up to read any more of it. Sorry, book, you just weren’t for me. 🙁
|I See You – Clare Mackintosh – 45%
I bought this one in September when it was an Amazon Kindle deal. I’ve read “I Let You Go” by Clare Mackintosh earlier last year and enjoyed it enough to pick this one up. I’m about halfway through and so far, so good. My only real quibble is that it took me until way too far into the story to distinguish between the two protagonists. But now I’ve got it – there’s the woman who is living as part of the mystery, and there’s the beat cop unofficially investigating the mystery. It’s an interesting concept – a woman recognizes her photo in the paper as part of an ad, then she finds out other women who also appeared were all victims of various crimes.
Next up: (This is largely decided by the library – I’ve waitlisted a bunch of books so as they come available, I have to read them before they expire.)
|The Last Mrs. Parrish – Liv Constantine
I’m guessing this is in the same genre as “I See You” – some kind of mystery, probably with a twist at the end. A psychological thriller, if you will.
Also, it’s time for me to start a short story collection, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. Definitely something already on my shelf.
What are you reading?
