It’s that time again!

My goal for October:

I’m going to set a goal of 4 books for this month. The one I’m currently reading is pretty good and I’ve already planned a re-read of a YA novel. I need to start making up that deficit if I’m going to reach my goal for the year.

Spoiler alert: It didn’t happen.

Excuse(s) for Not Reading More: Poe-tober stuff? I watched The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. No good excuses.

Diversity? A YA re-read and a contemporary novel. Eh.

Reading Goals:

1. Read 40 books – I’m now behind by 5 books. FIVE!!!

2. Decrease my TBR – As of May, I’m trying to be more ruthless about abandoning books that have been on my shelf for a long time and/or that don’t draw me in quickly when I pick them up.

  • Jan 1 – 88 physical19 Kindle
  • Feb 1 – 89 / 19
  • Mar 1 – 80/20 (I purged a LOT of books, but some were previously read and 3 were gifts)
  • Apr 6 – 85/22 (It was my birthday and I like to buy books as souvenirs)
  • May 1 – 86/21
  • June 4 – 81/22
  • July 6 – 80/22
  • Aug 1 – 82/22
  • Aug 31 – 78/22 (I found a discrepancy on my shelves)
  • Oct 1 – 69/21 (I pulled out a bunch to donate)
  • Nov 1 – 71/21

Good grief. I need to read 12 books in the next two months if I’m going to make my goal. It’s insane. I’m going to have to find some really engaging books. Or some really short ones. So I have to set a goal of 6 books if I’m going to have any chance.
