Well, April was a rough month of reading.
My goal for April:
For April, since almost a week has passed and I haven’t read anything, I’ll set a goal of 3 books.
What I read: (Link to my Goodreads 2018 Reading Challenge)

Moxie Jennifer Mathiew – 5* (Apr 12) Review |
![]() |
The Lying Game Ruth Ware – 2.5* (Apr 26) Review |
![]() |
A Piece of the World Christina Baker Kline – 3* (May 1) Review coming this Friday (Yes, I am totally cheating and counting this for April since I read the final 20 minutes this morning before writing my wrap-up post.) |
Excuse(s) for Not Reading More: I traveled at the beginning of the month. I got stuck in a book I eventually gave up on.
Diversity? One YA, one contemporary suspense, one historical fiction.
Star Ratings: I base this on the flat stars Goodreads displays in list-view, not the quarter-star system I assign in my reviews.
- 5 stars: 3 books
- 4 stars: 3 books
- 3 stars: 6 books
- 2 stars: 1 books
- 1 star: 0 books
- 0 stars: 0 books
- Abandoned: 3 books
Pages Read: (does not include abandoned books)
- January – 849
- February – 1122
- March – 1268
- April – 980
Reading Goals:
1. Read 40 books – I’ve read 13. Goodreads still says I’m on-track at 33% but I don’t feel great about my pace so far this year.
2. Decrease my TBR –
- Jan 1 – 88 physical / 19 Kindle
- Feb 1 – 89 / 19
- Mar 1 – 80/20 (I purged a LOT of books, but some were previously read and 3 were gifts)
- Apr 6 – 85/22 (It was my birthday and I like to buy books as souvenirs)
- May 1 – 86/21
I didn’t have a lot of library holds forced on me in April, but I already have one available for May. I’d really like to start tackling the books I own. I’m going to set a goal of 4 books for May, including a short story collection.
